TIG Newsletter, Issue #020 - New Art Gallery in Tiberias and Adventure Tours
November 16, 2012

Welcome to the Galilee Newsletter - A monthly e-zine about the north of Israel and all that's new at (TIG)

What's New?

  • New Contemporary Art Gallery in Tiberias
  • Adventure Tours with Israel Extreme

This month I had the pleasure of meeting two very interesting but very different personalities who have projects going on in the north of the country.

One is a talented and successful artist who has opened an amazing new gallery in Tiberias and the other is a sportsman who runs a tour company specializing in adventure tours and extreme sports. Here's a little bit about their very special businesses ...

Talya Polinger has recently fulfilled her dream by opening a contemporary Art Gallery in Tiberias. Talya, an American immigrant, lives with her family in the north of Israel and is a talented artist in her own right. She has held several exhibitions in Israel and abroad and you now have the opportunity to see her work exhibited along with other works of contemporary art in the Amdur Art Gallery.

The aim of the gallery is to provide an aesthetic and dynamic setting to display original paintings, sculptures and jewellery by Israeli artists for the enjoyment of the local community and visitors to Tiberias. I think you'll agree with me from the picture above that she's achieved her objective!

At the moment, the gallery is hosting it's first exhibition, called "Meet the House Artists - Signature Works". As the name suggests, you can expect to see signature works showing an example of the unique style of each artist.

This is a must-see for all art lovers coming to the Galilee! You can call Talya for details of gallery hours or to make an appointment on 04-873-5152 or cellphone: 052-482-4967. The gallery also has a Facebook page:

Moshe Meyers is an expert in extreme sports but he also has good business sense. He saw the potential in organizing tours for people who have a taste for adventure but don't generally take part in extreme sports. His aim is to offer tours to places that are hard to get to on your own without the knowledge of an expert guide and professional tools.

What I found interesting about this concept was the wide variety of activities that are available - really something for everyone! Hiking, rappelling, rock climbing, spelunking (caving) and even sky diving or just some of the activities you can do. He also offers zip lines, rope swinging, biking, horseriding, kayaking ... the choice is endless.

You can add as few or as many activities as you want and even if you're not into extreme sports, they will arrange a guide to show you the historical and archeological sites which you may not see on a regular tourist trip.

There are many options to get "off-the-beaten-track" and into the beautiful unspoilt countryside of the Galilee and the Golan Heights - and there are tours in the south of the country, too. For more details check out my new page about Israel Extreme.
