Hagoshrim Hotel is a green hotel in more than one sense of the word. Not only is it situated in a lush green nature reserve, but it's also becoming an eco-friendly hotel. We've been going to Hagoshrim for years, because of its quiet restful atmosphere, beautiful gardens and magnificent views of the mountains and countryside. Oh, and not to forget that wonderful unpolluted fresh air!!
The accommodations are surrounded by spacious public gardens. The superior rooms are the chalets and 2-storey buildings which are divided into hotel rooms. The deluxe rooms are in two 4-storey houses. Although not luxurious, we find them clean and comfortable and have everything we need from a country lodging. All the rooms have either a balcony or direct access to the gardens.
NEW! When I was at Hagoshrim this year, I saw that they are building a third 4-storey house, which will be opening in March, 2012. The new wing will have 48 luxury rooms, all with balconies, overlooking the Koren Stream Nature Reserve.
And I've been told that in the "Lebanon House" there are now four new luxury suites with a jacuzzi and three new garden suites.
TIP! Hate the smell of cigarette smoke? Request a room in one of the non-smoking areas!
We love the Israeli breakfasts at Hagoshrim Hotel. The wide variety of fresh salads, the local cheeses and home-made preserves make them just that bit more special than the usual hotel breakfasts.
For a change from eating in the hotel, it's worthwhile visiting the Gosh Restaurant where you can enjoy a typical Israeli meal of grilled meat or fish, fresh salad and chips. You can either sit inside the rustic wooden chalet or outside next to the stream in the shade of the fig trees. The restaurant is kosher so it's not open on Shabbat.
The Hotel Grounds
The first thing you see when you arrive at the hotel is a beautiful sculpture garden and there are other sculptures dotted around the hotel grounds. The sculptor, Arie Ashkenazi, is a member of Kibbutz Hagoshrim and he gives free tours with explanations about his works.
Just walking in the beautiful green hotel grounds is a pleasure but if you want to be more adventurous, you can take a walking tour in the "Valley of the Hidden River" nature reserve.
The hotel has it's own country club. There's a large outdoor
swimming pool that's open in the summer, and an indoor pool,
gym and squash courts, if you're feeling energetic. Then you
can relax in the jacuzzi or pamper yourself with a choice of
massages and spa treatments.
At the weekends, we enjoy the "Beautiful Israel" evenings where you can sing along or just sit back and enjoy traditional Israel folk songs sung by talented local singers.
