A gourmet Japanese Restaurant might not be what you expect to find up in the Camun Hills just behind Karmiel. Taiko Tea House is the perfect place for a romantic meal. This unique restaurant has a panoramic view over the hills and valleys of the Galilee, and it has its own Japanese garden.
It serves authentic Japanese dishes - the real deal - prepared by Taiko who is, of course, Japanese. Her mother sends her the ingredients that she can't find here from Japan, which explains why this restaurant was recommended to me for its unique food - not what you find in your local sushi bar!
Want to take part in a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony without leaving the country? Here's your opportunity! Taiko, dressed in one of her beautiful kimonos which she designs herself, will take you through the ceremony with an explanation of zen philosophy. Reservations for the tea ceremony - for groups of eight to ten people only - must be made in advance.
You will need to book a table in advance Fridays and Saturdays, or midweek for more than five people.
For reservations, call Shlomo or Taiko at: 04-9884989.

Sfat (Sefad) - Mystical city and home of the Kabbalah.
Tiberias - Tourist centre on the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret).
