One of the most successful and exciting Touring Companies is Israel-Extreme.

The company has been operating for almost 10 years and it's aim is to provide off-the-beaten-track tours so that you get to see and explore places that you can't get to on your own. They provide their expert knowledge of the country ... and the tools to get you there safely.

Many of their tours take you into the countryside of the Galilee and Northern Israel, so I contacted Moshe Meyers from Israel Extreme to find out more ...

How extreme is extreme?

Moshe claims that anyone can take part in an extreme adventure - they cater especially to regular people who don't usually do extreme sports. There is also a variety of other activities available such as horse-riding, kayaking and biking.

But if you're into rappelling, spelunking (caving) or rock climbing, and are looking for "challenging", they are equipped to take it to the next level.

Rock climbing for all ages.

On the other hand, if you're not the "sporty" type, and are more interested in the history of the area or the fauna and flora - they can offer that, too!

How do you choose an itinerary?

For a tailor-made trip to suit your particular needs, a representative from Israel Extreme will first contact you by phone to discuss your itinerary.

Once they have all the details, they will then send you a choice of possible options taking your specific needs into consideration. They will need to know for example how many adults, teenagers and children in the group, their ages and interests - whether it's spelunking, archeology or nature hikes.

You can choose from a one-day trip or longer. If you need overnight accommodation, Israel Extreme can recommend places to stay in the area and will help you with making reservations.

When is the best time to go?

There are tours available all year round. Some are specifically suited to the summer, such as trips where you're in and around water a lot of the time. Some are more suited to the winter - hiking in the desert, for example, which is just too hot in the summer. And then there are trips which are good all year round. There is a wide choice because Israel Extreme does trips all over Israel - not just in the north.

How much will it cost?

Israel Extreme cater for individuals, small and large groups. The price depends on the number of people in the group and the amount of activities you want to include on your trip. Obviously, if you want to do something like sky diving, it's going to
cost more.

It's difficult to put a price on a tailor-made trip but just to get an idea, I asked Moshe how much it would cost for an average one-day tour for a couple or small group. He told me the price range would probably be between 1,500 - 2,300 Israeli shekels. Considering that what they are offering is something quite different to the regular tours in Israel, I thought this sounded like a good deal!
